Dr. Kirsten Travers-Uyham is the founder of Mathematical Bridge LLC, a private mathematics enrichment program for children in Atlanta, GA that takes a hands-on, innovative approach to understanding the beauty of math in the world around us. The program goes beyond the school-based curriculum, helping children discover and tackle mathematical concepts, theories and applications from around the globe with hands-on projects, puzzles and activities. She runs the lower school math club at Pace Academy, a private school in Atlanta, GA.
Kirsten is also the founder and managing partner of River Cam Risk Advisors, LLC, a consultancy providing strategic advice and research on the quantitative aspects of the financial markets. She has ten years of experience at investment banks on Wall Street, and her clients include companies that use and trade derivatives and commodities. She is also an adjunct professor at the Goizueta School of Business at Emory University, teaching courses and seminars in finance to undergraduate and graduate students.
Kirsten grew up in Cambridge, UK where she attended the Perse School for Girls. There she passed ten GCSEs at grade A and earned A levels at grade A in mathematics, further mathematics, physics and French. She earned her B.A. (Hons) and M.A. in mathematics from Oxford University, where she was a choral scholar, and her PhD in mathematics from Duke University. She currently resides in Atlanta, GA with her husband and three children, where she serves on the board of the Artemis Guild at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. She is an alumna interviewer for Duke University admissions, and is passionate about the development of mathematics curricula and teaching methods for school-age students. She is fluent in French and conversant in German and Spanish. She loves to swim, dance, sing and cook in her free time.
